Robert Townsend started doing hair in San Diego over 20 years ago, and has been Newport Beach and Beverly Hills based for the last 19 years.
He became a former Art director with Toni & Guy USA where his easy, approachable manner and excellent coloring skills made him a natural for teaching. He was in charge of the assistant program, a popular stage artist and an inspiring all-round educator which made him a very sought after colorist.
Having left the fold after the de-merger, Robert has continued working in prestigious Newport Beach and Beverly Hills salons, specializing in color. The thing Robert loves most about being a hairstylist is that every day is different, every client is an individual, and he loves and knows how to bring out the best in all of them.
After traveling with his brother up to the Pacific Northwest many times and falling in love with its raw beauty and culture, he also decided that Seattle was the place he wanted to plant his roots and raise his family.
Having worked for essensuals London UK* brand he has always wanted to help bring it back to the US and now fuse it together with the Seattle cool culture, with Robert’s keen eye he saw that the place was in Seattle’s Capitol Hill and wanted to be part of bringing them both together.
After completing her education at one of Seattle’s top cosmetology schools in 2011, Gianni went on to work at one of the premier salons in the area. During her employment there she graduated at the top of her class at their advanced training academy, became an advanced stylist and attended additional training seminars from nationally recognized hairstylists. Gianni became part of the essensuals London team in the summer of 2015. She had the privilege of training with the label.m international artistic directors from London, as well as the incredible experience of working backstage at London Fashion Week. Gianni is one of the label.m USA Ambassadors, and will be travelling internationally to further her education. She enjoys giving her clients textured and easy to wear hair: anything from sexy and long, to pixies, shags, mullets and anything in between. She makes sure to educate her client on how to style their new cut, in addition to what products they should be using.
When it comes to hair, Paulina works to create custom looks suited to each client's texture, skin tone, eye color and lifestyle. From the consultation to the finished cut, seeing clients leave the salon feeling confident and beautiful is her ultimate goal . Paulina was born in Indonesia, raised in Portland and lived in many different cities throughout her life, offering her the chance to explore different perspectives in hair and beauty. She started her hairdressing career 8 years ago in North Carolina at the Paul Mitchell School of Raleigh. With her passion for art and beauty, she received the opportunity to train in New York City with celebrity colorist Sharon Dorram at a Sally Hershberger salon. She now resides in Seattle's Capitol Hill, where she looks forward to providing quality service for all clients.
Irene comes from a very small town, but she always knew her love of fashion and beauty would take her to a big city. After she graduated cosmetology school in 2019 she did just that, moving from Texas to Seattle in the spring of 2020. Being a hairdresser was Irene’s dream from a young age, her first clients were her 3 sisters who let her color and style their hair. Her passion for hair and learning everything she can about color has brought her to essensuals London, where she studied one-on-one with color director Robert Townsend in addition to taking classes from Redken and Tigi educators. Irene loves to give her clients the “chill Seattle girl” vibes with lived-in looking and low maintenance color.
Knowing at the age of seven that he wanted to do hair, Dennis received his high school diploma early to attend beauty school. After receiving a scholarship to Vidal Sassoon in Scottsdale, he was exposed to the awesome world of Toni & Guy, the international hairdressing company founded in London, where Dennis spent five years acquiring knowledge and honing his skill. With life bringing him to Seattle in 2006, Dennis became educated in the structure of the French cutting technique; and, with a passion for learning, to stay abreast, he’s continued to acquire advanced education in New York. In Dennis’ 28 year career, he’s spent time specializing in both cutting and coloring, and while he loves anything to do with hair, his passion is for the detail work of mens hair. When Dennis doesn’t have his hands in a head of hair, he’s consumed with his fitness and his two dogs.
