San Diego born stylist Jason Townsend is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable experts in the industry.
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish and a motivated educator with a real passion for hairdressing, Jason’s charismatic personality made him a popular platform artist and academy instructor for many years. He has been Beverly Hills-based for the last ten years, where he has styled for edgy photo shoots, glossy ad campaigns and spent many happy hours getting his A list clients red-carpet ready. Some of his celebrity clients include Robert Downey Jr, Charlize Theron, James Spader and Isla Fisher to name a few.
With over 22 years of hairdressing under his belt, many of those were spent as the former National Artistic Director for Toni & Guy North America where this prestigious role took him all over the USA, Canada, and South & Central America. He has also worked in the United Kingdom where he enjoyed working with the cool, cutting edge style of essensuals London UK and backstage with them at London Fashion Week.
His career took him to 18 countries and countless cities in-between, but he fell in love with the city of Seattle, the Pacific Northwest and its people and beauty. He is very excited in bridging the gap between the essensuals London UK style and the Pacific Northwest cool, and he knows that out of all the cities he has been to Seattle with it’s grit and raw style this is where it’s at.
Jason is proud to be at Essensuals London Seattle as a Director, along with his twin brother Robert Townsend. He will also be traveling throughout the US working with our gorgeous new high end haircare line, Label M the only product line used backstage at London Fashion Week.
Robert Townsend started doing hair in San Diego over 20 years ago, and has been Newport Beach and Beverly Hills based for the last 19 years.
He became a former Art director with Toni & Guy USA where his easy, approachable manner and excellent coloring skills made him a natural for teaching. He was in charge of the assistant program, a popular stage artist and an inspiring all-round educator which made him a very sought after colorist.
Having left the fold after the de-merger, Robert has continued working in prestigious Newport Beach and Beverly Hills salons, specializing in color. The thing Robert loves most about being a hairstylist is that every day is different, every client is an individual, and he loves and knows how to bring out the best in all of them.
After traveling with his brother up to the Pacific Northwest many times and falling in love with its raw beauty and culture, he also decided that Seattle was the place he wanted to plant his roots and raise his family.
Having worked for essensuals London UK* brand he has always wanted to help bring it back to the US and now fuse it together with the Seattle cool culture, with Robert’s keen eye he saw that the place was in Seattle’s Capitol Hill and wanted to be part of bringing them both together.
We are really excited to have Robert’s wide-ranging skills as the Essensuals London Director with his twin brother Jason Townsend.
After completing her education at one of Seattle’s top cosmetology schools in 2011, Gianni went on to work at one of the premier salons in the area. During her employment there she graduated at the top of her class at their advanced training academy, became an advanced stylist and attended additional training seminars from nationally recognized hairstylists. Gianni became part of the essensuals London team in the summer of 2015 where she received one on one training and mentorship from salon director Jason Townsend. She had the privilege of training with the label.m international artistic directors from London, as well as the incredible experience of working backstage at London Fashion Week. Gianni is one of the label.m USA Ambassadors, and will be travelling internationally to further her education. She enjoys giving her clients textured and easy to wear hair: anything from sexy and long, to pixies, shags, mullets and anything in between. She makes sure to educate her client on how to style their new cut, in addition to what products they should be using.
Maddie is a Washington native from a small town near Mount Rainier, but always dreamed of working and living in Seattle. She grew up in the industry, watching her mom work behind the chair in her own salon. Maddie began her own career doing hair in 2015, and discovered her skills at color. She specializes in balayage and different blonding techniques, and loves to give her client the “chill Seattle girl” vibes with lived-in looking and low maintenance color. Connecting with her clients, making them feel good about themselves and tailoring their haircolor to suit their image and lifestyle are her favorite parts of her job. Maddie always makes sure her clients have the knowledge and tools they need to keep their hair looking fresh and salon perfect at home.
